World-Melody International Folk Art Festival
Heath Bergersen was invited to the World-Melody International Folk Art Festival in Mongolia held in Ulaanbaatar and Khentii Province in September 2007. Heath was accompanied by Manager, Beverley
Webb and filmmaker, Samantha Bergersen of Inselberg Films. Associate and colleague Gordon Bronitsky of Gordon Bronitsky & Associates, Albuquerque New Mexico initiated this invitation after
meeting Heath at an international conference in June 2006. Gordon toured the Fernando Cellicion Traditional Zuni Dancers from New Mexico to the festival in 2004 and felt that Heath's talent on the
didgeridoo would be ideal for this folk festival.
Heath is the first Australian Indigenous Performer ever to be invited to perform in Mongolia and this will
surely pave the way for other Indigenous performers to attend future festivals. The Festival is now in its
fourth year and participants will came from Italy, Taiwan, Russia, Japan, USA and various regions in Mongolia
This was enormous opportunity to expose Australian Indigenous Talent to the world stage and to
network with possible promoters for future festivals and events. Heath is an acclaimed didgeridoo player and actor, articulate and at ease with people on any level and is a wonderful ambassador for the
Australian Indigenous people.
Heath and Beverley were asked to give a presentation to the children and students of Mongolia as part of their participation in the Festival.
Heath used face painting and didgeridoo instruction with the aid of pipe lengths to enable the children to experience how the didgeridoo is
played. Beverley assisted Heath and provided information on Australia generally and Indigenous Culture particularly.
Samantha Bergersen of Inselberg Films accompanied Heath and Beverley to film and document the Festival generally and Heath's
performance and workshop specifically. A documentary DVD of the Festival will be available in the near future.
