Kwarbah Djookian Dance Group
The Kwarbah Djookian Dance Group was initially formed to become part of the Boodjar Weern Spirit of the Land Showcase, bringing
Indigenous women's dance to the performances. The group is managed by Karla Hart and may be contacted on her email karla.hart@bigpond.com.au.
The group are now performing at many functions in their own right and are available for Welcome to Country, workshops, function,
events and festivals. Recent performances include:
- 2008 - Opening of the BHP Billiton Ravensthorpe Nickel Mine
- 2008 – Welcome to Country – UNIMA Puppetry Australia
- 2008 – South Coastal Women's Health Group Open Day
- 2008 – PLC Holiday Camp Workshop
- 2008 – National Consumer Congress - Perth WA
- 2008 – Survival Concert – Perth WA

Karla Hart
Karla is a graduate of the Aboriginal Theatre Course and currently completing her diploma in Contemporary Arts at WA Academy
of Performing Arts.
Karla is the leader of the group and is a competent actor as well as having experience in choreography, storytelling and dance (both traditional and contemporary). Karla was part of the opening ceremony for the 2007 Perth International Arts Festival.
Honey Webb
Honey was originally trained in dancing and storytelling by the Noongar Elders and often performs with her father and brothers
for the Wadumbah Dance Group. Honey was part of the opening ceremony for the 2007 Perth International Arts Festival.
Melinda Eades
Melinda is a graduate of the Aboriginal Theatre Course and spent 6 months at NAISDA in 2006. Melinda brings an ethereal
grace to the dances and looks forward to enhancing her skills by performing locally, nationally and internationally.
Karla Krakouer
Karla is an exciting new talent who is being mentored by Karla Hart.
Being part of Kwarbah Djookian will give Karla and avenue to explore, develop and enhance her skills as a dancer and storyteller.
